PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICES DURING COVID-19

During Covid-19, most, if not all, physiotherapy clinics have adjusted their treatment options by setting up virtual online appointments that are covered by insurance plans.

Over the past month, insurers have been quick to recognize Telehealth as a viable option for patients who do not need to be seen in person.   Automobile accident benefits providers, Sun Life, Manulife, Blue Cross, Canada Life and other major insurance providers in Atlantic Canada have agreed to cover Telehealth appointments.  In addition, all of the named insurers now cover physiotherapy services without a referral from a physician.

• Our personal injury team at Harris North Law is encouraging all existing and future clients injured in an accident to avoid interruption in their ongoing care by booking a Telehealth appointment with a physiotherapy provider that offers these Telehealth services.

Currently, in person appointments are provided only to urgent patients as directed by the Chief Medical Officer of Nova Scotia, with stringent adherence to social distancing and cleaning protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.  Telehealth appointments remain the option for non-urgent care.

If you have any questions or concerns about trying to arrange your physiotherapy appointment with a Telehealth provider, please contact Denise Mentis-Smith, Q.C. who offers a FREE, no-obligation consultation. Denise can be reached by phone at 902-444-7811 or by emailing her assistant Dawn Chisholm at dawn@harrisnorthlaw.ca.
